Hi Friends, I know it’s been far too long and I’m sorry… I’ve had to surrender to some big transitions this summer and hold steady while moving cross country (so long Cali), getting my family moved into a new home in New York, taking care of my ailing dog (she’s 14 and having a ruff time), fixing up my first home (I’ll be sharing all my house hacks/decor inspo along with a shoppable wishlist soon)…
But in the meantime I shall pass the baton… Today I'm thinking about the friends that keep me afloat, and who inspire me on the daily, while also listening to my rants about the perfect signet ring, a stack of silver bangles I’m searching for, desperately missing my Mom, needing advice on how to parent sensitive kids, wanting to bid on an old mine diamond I can’t afford, what wallpaper goes with parrot green paint, or the pros and cons of buying a hedgehog.
With that being said, I would be silly not to spotlight my past business partner (we started The Stax together) and one of my best pals, Laurel Pantin. We've weathered lots of life's storms together, and somehow we always escape the spirals with tons of laughter, a shared love for jewelry and all things that make us feel sparkly. She is sunshine in human form, and my life is brighter/more stylish with her in my orbit. You may already have a crush on her and follow her super popular substacks Earl Earl or Your Mom; if you don’t already, go follow and thank me later.
Since The Stax is all about sharing the love and spotlighting personal style and jewelry from near and far, I wanted to share Laurel’s summer jewelry edit and revive my series #ShowUsYourStax where I interview friends/strangers/family/role models and share insight into their style and personal jewelry collections. This series used to live solely on instagram (read our first one here), but since this topic needs so much space, the series is graduating to a hybrid of instagram and substack.
Over and out, now handing the reigns over to the Reina of Razzle Dazzle, live from LA, Laurel Pantin!
Show Us Your Stax: Laurel Pantin’s Summer Jewelry Wardrobe
I love jewelry, but I tend to wear only a couple of things at a time, and I like to keep the same handful of pieces in heavy rotation for a few months before making a few tweaks. I prefer to buy pieces I can wear every day rather than big, statement items that need a little more thought and effort.
In the summer, I don’t love wearing too many rings (my fingers swell in the heat!) and I don’t typically wear earrings either - I get nervous swimming in pools and the ocean wearing earrings, and I don’t want to have to keep putting them on and taking them off. But, I love making minor tweaks and swaps with a handful of necklaces and pendants, and three or four stacking rings that I wear on my wedding finger, and a great pinky ring (I’m currently obsessed with my EREDE Axle Diamond Ring, shop it here, ur welcome.
This summer I’m wearing this sweet “Pinky” choker made for me by Emma Milne-Watson. I call my daughter Pinky, and she has a matching necklace in light pink. It feels summery, but also personal - exactly what I want. I also almost always have my Sherman Field convertible chain on with my Sherman Field lapis locket, and Renato Cipullo J Splendente pendant. The J is for my husband, though I’m sure he’d prefer I hadn’t invested in it!
The lapis locket was a really special gift from my husband - Danielle Sherman is one of my best pals, and it feels really good to be able to wear her work. It helps that it’s also so beautiful.
These plastic beads came from my son’s friend’s birthday party, and I love them with the Sherman Field chain and pendant, and my Splendente J, a shell, and a custom amethyst pendant on a silk cord. I love the mix of fine jewelry and casual cord, and it feels extra summery. Like I said, I don’t typically wear earrings, but I do love studs. These are small oval-link studs by Sherman Field, and they match my oval-link bracelet (that I never take off) and oval-link choker. I love a matchy-matchy look!
Matchy matchy in my Sherman Field bracelet and necklace.
I’ve also barely taken off this Dezso carved cowrie shell necklace on a surf-style rope. It layers so nicely with other necklaces, and again, it’s mega summery. The gold necklace is by CAM Studio. It’s hand made and linked, and so beautiful. It has a bit of an organic feeling, but also structured. I wear it with a gold rock from the same collection, and sometimes with this little pearl from Danielle. As practical as I am, I do like a little bit of jewelry at the beach, and this does the job very nicely!
This is my ideal summer necklace stack - I love the three different lengths, three different necklace types (cord, chain, and stone) and the mix of pendants. The CAM Studio gold rock looks so great next to the pearl, and I love this yellow sapphire strand (also from Sherman Field, shop an emerald version here) with a large hammered heart from Christina Alexiou.
This is one of my favorite ring stacks - it’s simple, but varied. I got the enamel stripe band earlier this summer with Victoria when Alice Cicolini was in town, and I love that it’s a familiar and classic item, but through a novel lens. The diamond band is by Bell & Bird, and it was my wedding band. I love it so much - it was handmade in their studio, and the quality is unbelievable. Finally, the basic gold band is by Kathleen Whitaker. This is the medium thickness. It’s so simple, and also massively comfortable - I never take it off.
Before Victoria moved back East this summer, she and I got matching Posy rings from Anna Pierce jewelry. I love the font on the hand-engraving, and it always reminds me of my friend and how great it is to spend time with someone you truly love.
That’s all for now folks, I have to get back to unboxing and trying to make friends for my kids in a completely new environment (anyone in Pound Ridge area message me!). Thank you Laurel for sharing with us, ILYSM.
I’ll be back in a shake of a lobster’s tail and I love you, Victoria x
Beautiful collection!
