Hi Friends! Big news from my end... I'm moving back to the East Coast in a month (holy shit) from LA, my home for the past 7 years, the only home my kids know, and needless to say I've been a spinning top trying to digest this change, constantly burying my head in the sand...
Orchestrating this major move whilst running The Stax, getting my kids through the final stretch of their school year, soldiering through the start of the pseudo-goodbyes to my nearest and dearest (if you know me you know I hate goodbyes and the waterworks start almost immediately), prepping for my first rodeo at Couture (VIVA LAST VEGAS!), watching and taking care of my beloved and loyal dog Zelda of 14 years who is getting slower, blinder, and older on the daily which only makes me feel more melancholy and sensitive to the passing of time, some of my closest friend's suffering sudden loss, and last but certainly not least trying to renovate and decorate my first house, my future home, from across the country, solo, hasn’t been the most easy breezy chain of events.
Needless to say, life is the opposite of "chill" but I'm trying to surrender to it all and celebrate more than catastrophize... All the while being conscious of taking the time to focus on the small things, the fleeting pleasures, and of course the sparkly things that make me think of summer on the horizon, the sea, the sundowners in the garden, my sun-kissed children running around the lawn, my husband at the helm of a little whaler boat, in his element, and the way my jewelry catches the light at golden hour...
So amidst the chaos, I wanted to take a beat, remember that summer is basically here, connect with all of you by sharing some of my favorite pieces that remind me of sunny days ahead, and my happiest place, the beach. And just like the tide goes in and out, my Grandfather always repeated, "this too shell pass" (I'm loyal to my puns and themes), so let’s get this show on the road.
I whipped together the above collage, to show a vibrancy and eagerness for color, fun, lucky charms, cheeky sayings, and pattern. Summer style, to me, shouldn’t be too self serious—it should be immune to sand, wind, sweat, wine spills, kids ice cream drops, and there’s always room for beaded rainbow moments.
This moment above is all about that girl you see in Europe walking by with the coolest crocheted shell necklace on (ahem RENATA Q) as her only statement accessory apart from her perfect tan, or someone scootering by wearing the perfect billowy shirt and a stack of layered shell and gem necklaces like the Marisa Klass one pictured, or a lady at dinner wearing those epic and elegant Renato Cipullo earrings & turning heads, or even rummaging through a weekend market and locking eyes with that vintage Duvenay shell pendant and grinning from ear to ear as you know you won the jackpot. A vibe.
This collage is all about golden hour, on a dock, by the water, or anywhere that makes you feel warm and fuzzy, and wearing something that makes you feel like a firefly! I love a bias long slip dress by Organic John Patrick paired with a layered strand of tiny pearls, or a statement gold necklace like the one above by CAM with solid-gold hand-sculpted beads on silk thread, and always paired with a statement pinky ring like the one I’ve always loved by BECK, noted above.
I’ll leave you with this imprint above of a technicolor daydream! Pearls for dessert, the most insane charm necklace that a mermaid could ever want, literally a siren in necklace form by Jessica McCormack, the most perfect Angela Cummings shell ring, me smizing, and more. A reminder that even though LA has been insanely gloomy, there will be some longer brighter days ahead, and bikini toast makes me forget about my worries!
I love you all, thanks for being here, and I’m excited to share more soon. Until then, shell be back.
Yours, Victoria
Good luck with your move! And YESSSS, VIVA LAS VEGAS! You are going to love it! So many fabulous things to see and interesting like-minded folks in one space it's sensory overload but in the best way! We (the industry folk) totally take over for that week. If you take a stroll over to the AGTA Gem Fair (in the Venetian), stop by and say hello. I'm exhibiting with EMCO Gem (Colombian emeralds) Booth A-23042
